“Luke”

 We
got Luke from Sunnyvale kennels in Washington as a puppy.
He had the best sense of humor, stealing pillows and pulling
my sister and me around the house by our wrists. He was
such a character not only in the house, but in the show
ring. After my mother, Tracy Haines (then Christensen)
finished him as a show champion, I was able to show him
in Junior Showmanship, although I think Luke thought he
was showing me! He loved to show and would blaze around
the ring and it was all I could do to keep from tripping
and falling! Tracy also handled Luke to both his JH and
his FC titles, making him one of 3, and the only male,
8th generation Dual
Champion. The other two 8th generation DCs were his
half-sisters.
Luke naturally sired his last litter (12
pups!) at 14 years old. He died in his sleep 6 months
later at 15. Most of Luke’s puppies went to field
trial or hunting homes. He has produced many field champions,
some of whom were show pointed (including FireStarter
Kennels’ DeCan’s Fire
Starter, JH). Luke was not only a great competitor,
but he was a loving companion. He will be remembered fondly
by many for years to come.
